Nourishing tallow cream is the most nutrient dense skincare product money can buy. Good news! You don’t need a lot of it for this recipe!
Life as an esthetician.
Years ago, long before I ever had a glimmer in my eye for homesteading, I was an esthetician. I LOVED my job. It was so fun to be in a perpetually happy, clean, good-smelling environment every day. I got to express my creativity through dressing up and wearing over-the-top makeup. I always saw people at their happiest. Be it applying makeup for their wedding, waxing before an exciting trip, or cashing in on a gift certificate, people were always happy to see me.
All of that made for an incredibly fun job. But what made it meaningful was the hope I was able to provide. Many who were suffering with embarrassing skin conditions were receiving solutions for their problems.
No matter your skin condition, Nourishing Whipped Grass-fed Tallow Face Moisturizer IS YOUR GUY!
There was one mistake almost EVERY person with acne-prone skin made. They would use harsh chemicals to dry out their zits! What would happen? Their dermal layers would think they weren’t doing their job well enough. They would over-produce sebum, creating a super oily face and a never ending cycle of acne. We have been LIED to by skincare industry marketing. The skin needs nourishment to let the body know it can take a step back on the oil production. (Some cystic acne is hormonal or a potential food sensitivity. Using this balm alone may not heal the acne, but it will for sure reduce the redness and inflammation and even out the skin tone.) Everyone knows decadent cream is good for aging skin, thus, this is the nourishing tallow cream for all skin types!
Meet the luxurious tallow face cream that is truly nourishing.
Now that I have a teen in the house (with three more right behind him!) I need them to have a nourishing, affordable skincare routine that carries more than buzz words and synthetic “nutrients.” One buzzword example: collagen. Stay away from anything that boasts of collagen as an ingredient. It is too big of a molecule to be able to penetrate your skin. Whatever that collagen (from unknown sources!) costs, you paid too much because it’s just sitting on top of your skin.
Contrast that with Vitamin A in grass-fed tallow that encourages the production of your own collagen, elastin and healthy skin cells. It is a primary ingredient in prescription skin care for acne and anti aging. Many of us with acne were prescribed Retin-A, a synthetic form of vitamin A. We had to spend our summers hiding from the sun to prevent worse damage! Vitamin D rejuvenates the skin and protects against free radicals that cause premature aging. Helping with the overall texture, Vitamin K soothes inflammation and promotes speedy healing. Vitamin E repairs and actually reverses free radical damage. It’s moisturizing, and not just surface level—this tallow balm provides deep hydration! And for red, irritated, acne-prone or dry skin, Vitamin B1is king of anti-inflammatory properties. It also improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Are you on board with this nourishing tallow cream yet?
More affordable than anything (healthy) you can buy.
Here is a post on how to render grass-fed beef tallow yourself. You can make this liquid gold from what would otherwise be trash! However, if that seems too daunting a task, you can purchase rendered grass-fed tallow on Amazon or specialty grocers.
My recipe uses organic emu oil, which has served the Aborigines much like tallow has served those outside of Australia. It is anti-inflammatory, soothing redness and irritation. Helping to heal wounds, it nourishes and eradicates dry skin by energizing cell production and regeneration. It also oxygenates skin cells (plumping underlying layers of skin) and quickly penetrates the deep layers of skin.
I also include organic jojoba oil, which, surprise! is not actually an oil at all! It’s a wax ester that mimics natural human sebum and contains multiple vitamins. These characteristics condition the skin and seal in moisture without causing acne or clogging the pores. Jojoba oil hosts a wealth of antioxidants and minerals, which all nourish and protect skin, promoting a glowing complexion.
Of course essential oils are added, but not just for their smell! I like to use blue tansy because it does wonders for the skin. Again, it’s loaded with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants soothing a myriad of skin conditions. I also add frankincense, lavender and geranium for their attributes that benefit the skin. Peppermint is always has a place in my mixtures, because I love the way the freshness contrasts with the florals. I do not have sensitive eyes, though. Take that into consideration if you’d like to add peppermint to yours!
Nothing beats a good, thick cream, so I add a small amount of organic beeswax. It is non-comedogenic, allowing the skin to breathe freely, making it beneficial for acne-prone and sensitive skin

What Nourishing Whipped Grassfed Tallow Face Moisturizer costs:
According to my search on Amazon, if you don’t have any of this on hand, this could cost around $51. With the portions you’d be getting of each product, you could make an entire case of this moisturizer. You could also use these ingredients for several other skincare purposes. Sunscreen! Deodorant! Oil cleanser! Eczema cream! If you render your own tallow, that would take the price down to $30 for LOADS of this product! If you were to buy a nourishing cream from a reputable source, you would only get 2oz for over $45. If making your own isn’t up your ally, be sure to try Toups and Co. I prefer the texture and smells of my own small batches, and I love that in spending so little on my skincare, I can afford to use Toups for their quality makeup.
The process:
I’m giving the specs for a 4 oz jar in the recipe. My general recipe for those of you who like to throw things together is:
2 parts grass-fed tallow
1 part organic emu oil
1 part organic jojoba oil
Organic beeswax depends on what size of container you make it in, I use a tablespoon for a 4oz jar.
Add quality essential oils to your preferred level of smell, I use 30 drops for 4oz.
Add grass-fed tallow and organic beeswax to a double boiler until thoroughly melted. Once both are melted, take off the heat and add the rest of the ingredients. Mix well and let cool on the counter until solid. At that point, I like to use a mixer and whip it up so it’s softer to use. A piping bag (or ziploc with a corner cut off) makes for a clean transition into your desired container.
Enjoy using this Nourishing Whipped Grassfed Tallow Face Moisturizer on any skin needing some love, with the confidence of knowing exactly what you are putting onto the largest organ of your body! Immediately, you will notice how supple your face feels. After a couple weeks, you will be astonished at the difference in how your skin feels. You will have a radiant complexion, and your overall skin health will be dramatically improved. Grass fed tallow is the only product that I have encountered to be able to make such claims.
